Five people, Le Phuong, Duong Nguyet Kieu and Dung Que Minh, from District 6, Ho Chi Minh City, and Tran Trung Thanh and Nguyen Thi Yen Ly, from Binh Duong Province were named.

Duong Nguyet Kieu often visited Cambodia, retuning with ecstasy and methamphetamines to provide for dealers operating in primarily in Ho Chi Minh City’s districts 6 and 11.

After weeks of surveillance, on November 13, the police caught Le Phuong red-handed while transporting 20g of methamphetamines. Following Phuong’s statements, the police arrested Kieu and Minh while they were delivering drug in District 6, confiscating 30g of methamphetamine.

The police also discovered over one kilo of limestone (used as a substance to create ecstasy tablets) and many other related evidence.

Also on the same day, the anti-drug police force in the southern region coordinated with police in Binh Duong Province to bust another drug trafficking ring from Cambodia, led by Tran Trung Thanh, a Vietnamese Australian.

Thanh regularly visited his home town of Binh Duong. He was under monitoring by the Australian police for drug trafficking. Thanh used his girl-friend’s house in Thu Dau Mot District as a base for drug transactions from Cambodia to Vietnam.

While dealing, Thanh and his girlfriend were arrested. The police found 20g of methamphetamine and 5g of heroin at their house.

The police are conducting further investigations.
