According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, two flights conducted by the national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines brought home over 300 Vietnamese citizens from Canada and the Republic of Korea (RoK) and more than 340 from Russia. Over 260 others from the UAE were repatriated on a Bamboo Airways flight.
Passengers include children aged under 18, the elderly, the ill, workers with expired visas and labour contracts, students without accommodations, stranded tourists, and those in disadvantaged circumstances.
Since April 10, some 90 repatriation flights have been arranged by Vietnamese authorities to help over 22,000 local people stranded abroad due to Covid-19 return home, the committee said.
