Vietnam records five more imported Covid-19 patients on Monday

Three Vietnamese nationals and two foreign experts who recently landed in Vietnam have tested positive for SARS-CoV-2, raising the total number of Covid-19 patients in the country to 1,312, the Ministry of Health announced on Monday evening.

According to the ministry's report, one of the newly-found patients is a 51-year-old Indian man who arrived at Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi on November 20.

He was sent to a local quarantine area upon arrival and tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 on November 21.

The patient is now being treated at the Hanoi-based Hospital for Tropical Diseases.

Two other patients are two Vietnamese men aged 50 and 24 who returned from Romania to Ho Chi Minh City's Tan Son Nhat Airport on November 8. They tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 in their third testing carried out on November 22.

The two are now being treated at the Cu Chi Field Hospital for Covid-19 patients.

The next patient is a 29-year-old male Vietnamese flight attendant who returned from Japan to Danang Airport on November 8.

The man was sent to a quarantine area in Ho Chi Minh City upon arrival and tested positive for coronavirus in his second testing on November 22.

He is now also being treated at the Cu Chi Field Hospital for Covid-19 patients.

The last patient is a 29-year-old female Filipino expert who came to Vietnam from South Korea on November 18. She was sent to a quarantine area in Hanoi upon arrival and tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 on November 21.

The patient is now being treated at the Hanoi-based Hospital for Tropical Diseases.

With this new infection case, the number of imported Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 621.

As of 6 pm on November 23, a total of 1,151 Covid-19 patients had recovered and been discharged from hospital. There have been 35 deaths, most of them being the elderly with serious underlying diseases.

The country has gone 81 days without reporting any new case in the community.

At present, over 15,000 people who had close contact with Covid-19 patients or returned from virus-hit areas are being monitored at hospitals, quarantine facilities, and at home.
