Nearly 14,000 new Covid-19 infection cases confirmed on Saturday

Vietnam reported an additional 13,998 Covid-19 infections on Saturday with over half of the number found in the community, according to the Ministry of Health.

According to the ministry's report, 13,993 of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in 57 out of 63 localities in the country including HCM City (1,636), Can Tho (998), Tay Ninh (787), Ben Tre (762), Binh Thuan (626), Dong Thap (624), Ba Ria - Vung Tau (620), Ca Mau (568), Bac Lieu (565), Binh Phuoc (562), Vinh Long (552), Kien Giang (498), Khanh Hoa (467), Hanoi (455), Dong Nai (433), Thua Thien Hue (335), An Giang (319), Binh Duong (319), Tra Vinh (301), Hau Giang (288), Tien Giang (209), and Binh Dinh (203). There were five imported patients confirmed today.


The new infections showed an increase of 332 cases compared to yesterday's figure. There were 8,402 infections found in the community.

As of Saturday evening, 1,289,511 infections had been reported since the new outbreak occurred in the country in late April. Some localities that have recorded the highest number of patients include HCM City (476,818), Binh Duong (283,908), Dong Nai (89,159), Long An (38,607), and Tay Ninh (31,691).

With these new infection cases, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 1,294,778. The country now stands 35th among 223 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections.


On December 4, an additional 1,107 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 1,007,566.

On Saturday evening, a further 203 deaths related to Covid-19 were announced, bringing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 26,061. The deaths were reported in some localities including HCM City (75), An Giang (20), Binh Duong (18), Can Tho (15), Dong Nai (13), Tien Giang (10), Long An (7), Kien Giang (7), Soc Trang (5), Dong Thap (5), Vinh Long (5), Bac Lieu (5), Binh Thuan (4), Khanh Hoa (3), Ba Ria - Vung Tau (2), Hau Giang (2), Quang Ngai (2), Tra Vinh (2), Quang Ninh (1), Dak Lak (1), and Binh Phuoc (1).

Vietnam on December 3 administered more than 991,961 doses of Covid-19 vaccines. The country has so far conducted over 126.84 million Covid-19 vaccine shots, with over 53.69 million people having received two doses.
