Vietnam records additional 3,794 Covid-19 cases on Saturday morning

An additional 3,794 local Covid-19 infections were confirmed in Vietnam in the 12 hours as of 6 am on Saturday, according to the Ministry of Health.

Of the figure, 933 were detected outside quarantined and sealed-off areas.

HCM City still accounted for the highest number of patients with 1,836, followed by Binh Duong (882), Dong Nai 466, Tien Giang 165, Long An (160), Ba Ria-Vung Tau (100), Vinh Long (62), Phu Yen (31), Son La (20), Kien Giang (17), Binh Dinh (17), Lam Dong (12), Dong Thap (11), Dak Nong (7), Hai Duong (3), Bac Lieu (3) and Thanh Hoa (2).

As of 6 am on Saturday, Vietnam had confirmed a total of 197,175 Covid-19 patients, including 2,338 cases from abroad. There have been 193,267 patients recorded since the fourth Covid-19 wave occurred in the country from April 27.

Only two provinces Quang Ninh and Bac Kan have gone through more than 14 days without detecting any new Covid-19 infections.

To date, 62,332 have been given the all-clear. Meanwhile, 518 cases are still under care at ICUs and 18 others are receiving ECMO support.

On Friday, more than 451,256 doses of Covid-19 vaccines were administered across the country, taking the total shots given so far to more than 8.52 million, with 863,323 people fully vaccinated with two jabs.

HCM city has proposed setting up five field emergency stations for Covid-19 patients, using taxis and coaches of some local transportation firms. Local authorities have asked all medical facilities, including private ones, to be ready in receiving Covid-19 patients to avoid the late treatment.

Meanwhile, Hanoi has prepared for a scenario of up to 20,000 sick-beds for Covid-19 patients as the pandemic is developing complicatedly and unpredictably in the city.

The central city of Danang has piloted home-quarantine for people who come into close contact with Covid-19 cases (F1) in Ngu Hanh Son and Hoa Vang districts.
