Quang Ninh leads PCI rankings 2023 for seventh consecutive year

The northern coastal province of Quang Ninh topped Vietnam's Provincial Competitiveness Index (PCI) 2023 for the seventh consecutive year with 71.25 points, according to the PCI 2023 report released on May 9.

The report has been unveiled by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and the US Agency for International Development (USAID).

Dau Anh Tuan, vice secretary-general cum director of the Legal Department of Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), said this also marks the 11th year that the locality has been listed among the group of five provinces with the best economic management quality in Vietnam.

Most notably, Quang Ninh has made tremendous efforts in terms of minimizing the administrative burden for businesses with the time cost index reaching the highest of 8.54 points across the country.

Furthermore, the province has continued to effectively implement business support programmes, ranking second nationwide with 7.72 points; while simultaneously exerting efforts for reducing the burden of unofficial costs for enterprises, ranking third with 7.72 points.

The locality also took the lead in the Provincial Green Index (PGI), an initiative developed by the VCCI with support from the US Agency for International Development (USAID) and private sector partners.

Moreover, the southern province of Long An secured second place in the PCI 2023 rankings with 2.49 points, followed by the northern port city of Hai Phong with 70,34 points, Bac Giang with 69,75 points, and Dong Thap with 69,66 points,

Elsewhere, Hanoi dropped eight notches to rank 28th in the PCI 2023 rankings.
