Up to 110 surveillance cameras have been installed on Hanoi-Lao Cai Expressway

According to Major General Le Xuan Duc, deputy head of Traffic Police Department, the cameras will be connected into the national public services website for administrative fines.

The cameras can supervise vehicle data so they can detect vehicles which use fake license plates and those which cause accidents and then flee.

In 2016, many surveillance cameras and speed monitoring devices were also installed along Noi Bai-Lao Cai Expressway.

The 265-km expressway runs from Hanoi’s Noi Bai area through the provinces of Vinh Phuc, Phu Tho, Yen Bai and Lao Cai. Since it became operational in September 2014, it has reduced travel time from Hanoi to Lao Cai to 3.5 hours, and eased traffic density on national highways 2,2B, 32C and 70. The route is part of the infrastructure development project under China’s Kunming-Hanoi-Haiphong Economic Corridor.
