Readers help abandoned children in Hai Duong Province

DTiNews has transferred nearly VND65m in donations from readers to a humanitarian centre in Hai Duong Province which trying to cope with caring for four abandoned children.

Nguyen Trung Dung, deputy head of the humanitarian centre, under the Red Cross Organisation, said, "Many people have come and given us milk, diapers and cash. We have received a total of VND20m. Thanks to everyone's help, the children have better meals and no longer lack clothes and diapers like before. We are really greatful."

Dung said a family adopted one of the four abandoned children while other couples have come forward and may adopt the remaining three.

"We hope the children can find stable families," he said.

Representatives of DTiNews transferred VND64,790,000 from readers to help the centre care for abandoned children.

 

Four abandoned children at the centre

The three girls and a boy were left at the centre, which has only modest funding of VND750,000 a month for reach child it takes in.

The oldest of the new arrivals, named Nguyen Ngan Ha, is believed to be aged 18 months, while Tran Dinh Hung is just six months, and Tran Thu Trang and Tran Thu Thao are about three months old.

One of the children, Ngan Ha, was seriously malnourished and suffering respiratory inflammation when she was found.
