The coal depot of Quang Ninh is taking strict measures to address illegal coal exploitation.
More than 2,000 tonnes of coal seized in 20 days |
During the 20 days of the programme, which lasted from November 1st to the 23rd, 120 vehicles, carrying more than 2,000 tonnes of coal were seized.
City police also coordinated with several coal companies, including Vinacomin, Viet Hung, Ha Khanh, Ha Tu, Cao Thang, Dai Yen, Cao Xanh, to destroy 39 mines in eight wards, which operating illegally.
In the process of the raid, police also inspected 178 guesthouses and ordered almost 300 temporary residents, who were working at these illegal mines, to return to their hometown. Twelve tents built around the mines were torn down. About 40 sticks of explosives were found.
The illegal coal exploitation has already caused damage to homes in Ha Long City.
Local authorities held a meeting on November 23 to further discuss measures to stop this problem.
At the meeting, the Chairman of Ha Long City’s People’s Committee, Vu Van Hop, vowed to take strict quick action to address the issue.
