The 12 members of the Vietnam National Taekwondo team have set their sights on gold at the upcoming 2015 World Taekwondo Championships set for May 12-18 in Chelyabinsk, Russia.

The team is pinning their hopes for silverware on star martial artists Nguyen Trong Cuong and Nguyen Van Duy, which would give the team a leg up in next summer’s Olympic Games in Brazil.

The Vietnamese athletes will compete in 8 categories of both men and women’s events – fin weight (-54kg), flyweight (-58kg), bantamweight (-63kg), featherweight (-68kg), lightweight (-74kg), welterweight (-80kg), middleweight (-87kg) and heavyweight (+87kg).

At the last World Taekwondo Championships held two years ago in Mexico, Vietnam did not win any medals.
