 >>  Justice Ministry computers hacked by ransom virus
Fears that computers at the Justice Ministry were infected with "Ransomware" malware have proven unfounded, the outbreak being contained to several personal computers.

The ministry issued a warning to officials on Friday after the malware, which encrypts and locks data, demanding a ransom or the files will be destroyed, had been detected. Initial fears were that important information had been compromised.

"Some personal computers were found to be infected with ransomware. Only a small amount of data was lost. There has been no demand for ransom," said Nguyen Chi Dung, the deputy head of the ministry's Department of Information and Technology.

Dung said IT staff were trying to remove the virus from infected computers and set up stronger firewalls to prevent further intrusions.

The ministry was concerned that important data had been compromised. Further investigation determined that the files were safe.
