Party Central Committee wraps up fourth plenum

The fourth plenum of the 12th Party Central Committee was closed on October 14 after six days of sitting.

On behalf of the Politburo, Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong delivered a speech on major outcomes of the plenum, including socio-economic performance in 2016-2017, transformation of the growth modal, international economic integration, as well as Party building.

Mr. Trong affirmed that the fourth plenum was successful. He was convinced that the resolutions and conclusion of the Party Central Committee at the fourth plenum would contribute to putting the 12th Party Congress Resolution into reality; fulfilling socio-economic development tasks; effectively conducting the international economic integration process; ensuring socio-political stability; building and revamping the Party in transparent and powerful manner.

The Party chief suggested each member of the Party Central Committee uphold the sense of responsibility to successfully implement the 12th Party Congress, other resolutions and conclusions which were introduced at this  plenum.

Earlier, members of the Party Central Committee discussed the scheme on effectively implementing global economic integration and maintaining socio-political stability in the context of Vietnam’s membership of new-generation free trade agreements on October 13 in Hanoi at the fifth working day. The discussion was presided over by Politburo member andState President Tran Dai Quang.

In the afternoon, the committee’s members listened to two thematic reports on the recent East Sea situation and policies and measures taken by Vietnam; and the fourth industrial revolution: several characteristics, impacts and policy implications for Vietnam under the chair of Politburo member and PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc.
