Flight VN9411 welcomed with a water salute

Flight VN9411 carrying nearly 200 passengers were welcomed with a water salute when the plane touched down at the airport.

Cao Tuong Huy, vice chairman of Quang Ninh People's Committee along with the representatives of Vietnam Airlines and the management board of Van Don Airport were also at the scene to give flowers and welcome passengers.

Vietnam Airlines said they were planning to open more international flights to Van Don. This is not only the first international flight of Vietnam Airlines to Van Don, but it is also a statement for the tourism development in Quang Ninh and opportunities to connect with tourists in other countries.

On December 30, 2018, Vietnam Airlines also conducted the first commercial flight to Van Don Airport with passengers from HCM City. This route has seven flights per week. After six months, Vietnam Airlines has transported nearly 40,000 passengers to Van Don, out of the total 95,000 passengers from 750 flights by various airlines.

Expanding the international flight routes to Van Don Airport is a key content in the strategic cooperation agreement between Vietnam Airlines and Quang Ninh People's Committee. New routes will help Quang Ninh authorities realise the goal to receive 15 million to 16 million tourists, of which 7 million are international tourists, in 2020. The goals are 30 million tourists with 15 million international tourists in 2030.

The local authorities hope to turn tourism into the province's key sector and make Quang Ninh an international destination in accordance with the tourism development plan to 2020 with a view to 2030.
