Two more localities in Vietnam record new Covid-19 cases

The central provinces of Thanh Hoa and Quang Tri have become the latest localities in Vietnam to have fresh Covid-19 patients, raising the country’s total affected localities to 13, the Ministry of Health reported Friday morning.

The Ministry of Health on Friday morning announced three new Covid-19 patients, including two from Quang Tri and one from Thanh Hoa provinces with all linked to Danang.

 

The Covid-19 pandemic has ravaged 13 cities and provinces in Vietnam.


Patient 748 is a 54-year-old woman from Quang Vinh Ward in Thanh Hoa’s Sam Son City who had come into close contact with Patient 620. On Thursday, she tested positive for Covid-19 by the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology following tests by the provincial Disease Control Centre earlier.

She is now being quarantined for treatment at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases’ branch 2 in Dong Anh District in Hanoi.

Patient 749 is a 27-year-old woman from Quang Tri’s Vinh Hoa Commune who took care of her relative at Danang Hospital from July 17. Three days later, she had the symptoms of light fever and sore throat and then later tested positive for the virus.

Another case from Quang Tri is Patient 750, a 28-year-old man, in Dong Ha District’s Dong Le Commune. He had close contact with Patient 749. On July 25, he suffered from Covid-19-suspected symptoms.

The two patients are being treated at Quang Tri Hospital for Tuberculosis and Lung Disease.

To date, 13 cities and provinces in Vietnam have been hit by the pandemic, including Danang, Quang Nam, Dak Lak, Hanoi, HCM City, Quang Ngai, Thai Binh, Dong Nai, Lang Son, Ha Nam, Bac Giang, Thanh Hoa and Quang Tri.

The country has registered a total 750 Covid-19 cases, including 312 from abroad.

The outbreak has caused 10 deaths so far, all with underlying health issues.
