One more man tests positive for SARS-CoV-2 after returning from Russia

A 57-year-old Vietnamese man who recently returned from Russia has tested positive for SARS-CoV-2, raising the total number of Covid-19 patients in the country to 1,169, the Ministry of Health announced on Monday evening.

According to the ministry's report, the new patient arrived at Van Don International Airport in Quang Ninh Province on October 16. He was sent to a quarantine area in Ninh Binh Province upon arrival and tested positive for coronavirus on October 25.

The patient is now being treated at a healthcare centre in Ninh Binh Province's Hoa Lu District.

Earlier, 14 other people who boarded the same flight with him had been infected with coronavirus.

With these new infection cases, the number of imported Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 478.

As of 6 pm on October 26, a total of 1,061 Covid-19 patients had recovered and been discharged from hospital. There have been 35 deaths, most of them being the elderly with serious underlying diseases.

The country has gone 54 days without reporting any new case in the community.

At present, 14, 901 people who had close contact with Covid-19 patients or returned from virus-hit areas are being monitored at hospitals, quarantine facilities, and at home.
