Khanh Hoa Province sent some 400 tonnes of Tet gifts to the soldiers and people living in the Spratly Islands on January 5.

The gifts which include food, flowers and utensils and other tools have been provided from mainland authorities, organisations and individuals.

Lieutenant Colonel Cao Van Son, head of Logistic Department 146, said some organisations had sent ostrich meat so that everyone could have more diversity during Tet Holiday.

The National Maritime Youth Club will go to the island to make 2,016 Chung cakes to support the soldiers and local people to maintain and protect the country's sovereignty.

Colonel Nguyen Viet Thuan, head of Brigade 146, said, "This is the first time that the club members have been to the islands to make Chung cakes. We really appreciate this gesture and this is a huge encouragement to us."
