Hanoi has planned to provide free wifi in many outdoor spaces across the city.

According to Chairman of the municipal People's Committee Nguyen Duc Chung, the move is part of the city's programme to build a smart transport system.

The free wifi access is intended to help people to be able to avoid the worst traffic hotspots.

Free wifi has been provided for some bus routes in Hanoi

In related news, the Hanoi Transport Corporation (Transerco) has installed devices to provide free wifi services on 200 buses. The firm targets to offer free wifi for all buses in Hanoi.

Transerco said that the first bus routes available with free wifi services is Route 86 from the Hanoi Railway Station to Noi Bai International Airport, routes 11 from the Thong Nhat Park to the University of Agriculture and 12 from Nghia Do Park to Dai Ang.
