Northern region faces rains, landslides

The northern region of Vietnam is forecast to continue facing heavy rains in the next ten days. Some mountainous areas may see landslides.

Last night and early this morning, June 27, some northwestern localities, including Van Chan District in Yen Bai Province, Bac Quang District in Ha Giang Province and Ham Yen District in Tuyen Quang Province had torrential rains.

Some mountainous areas may have hail, strong wind and landslides in the two days to come.

According to the National Centre for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting, Hanoi will see strong wind, heavy rains and thunderstorms until June 29.

On June 27-29, floods are forecast to occur on the upper reaches of the Red and Thai Binh rivers. The water level on Da and Gam rivers will also sharply rise.

Over the past week, Hanoi has seen late afternoon rains.
