Desperate mother calls for help for ill family
A woman in Dak Nong Province is in desperate need of financial support to help provide medical treatment for her husband and their two children.
Their first child, Hoang Thi Diem My, was diagnosed with cerebral palsy and microcephaly after birth. She is too frail for a six-year-old child and has never been able to speak clearly. Thu said My was healthy after birth but showed unusual signs after 10 days.
"Doctors said if we were able to take good care of her then she could stay with us for a long time or else she might die soon. She is nearly bed-bound and depends on her family for everything," Thu said.
Unfortunately, their second child also has cerebral palsy and hemangioma. "Her eyes turned black on the second day after birth. She needs to take medicine regularly," Hoa said.
When their daughters have seizures, the couple has to give them sedatives or sleeping pills. Both Thu and Hoa are freelance labourers and don't have stable jobs or incomes. Early this year, Hoa's left breast swelled unusually. When he went to the hospital, doctors said he might have a tumour.
"Sometimes I thought of dying but both of us keep struggling because of our daughters," Thu said.
