Police of Tu Liem District, Hanoi, have just sent a document to Keangnam Vina investors and Keangnam Enterprises requesting that they improve safety at work.

According to police, they have cooperated with inspectors of labour and safety to carry out an investigation with an aim of uncovering the reasons behind fatal accidents at the site. They found that investors focused on construction progress but not facilities to ensure the safety of their employees.

In addition, they didn’t educate their employees with safety awareness. Most victims were not trained in construction and had pre-employment contracts to avoid insurance fees.

Some workers have fallen to their deaths because there was not proper netting, warning signs or barriers in dangerous areas.

The investigation also reveals that some employees didn’t obey regulations of safety at work. Police requested that contractors strictly check and invest in facilities in order to insure the safety of their employees at the site.

There have been 6 deaths and many injuries in the past 7 months at the Hanoi Landmark Tower.
