The Hanoi Amnesty Advisory Council on April 27 decided to grant prisoners parole and reduce their terms at detention camps in the capital city, marking Southern Liberation and National Reunification Day (April 30).

These inmates have performed well during their prison terms and are eligible for parole in line with the State President’s recent decision.

As a result, 82 inmates are set to be freed and 156 others will have their terms commuted by three to eight months.

The same day, the central province of Quang Ngai decided to release 4 inmates on parole and reduce prison terms on 10 others.

The appraisal process has been conducted in a democratic, open and lawful manner.
