Hanoi limits Old Quarter construction work

Hanoi Department of Planning and Architecture has proposed to divide the 82 hectare Old Quarter into approved conservation and construction zones.

The authorities will divide the old quarter into two zones. This aims to limit construction problem and help preserve living space, architecture and local values.

Buildings in the 28 hectare conservation area will have their construction works limited. The second area which has 54 hectares will be given more freedom in building.

In the plan, a buffer area of 55.7 hectares was proposed to provide more infrastructure to the Old Quarter.

A 10.7 hectare area surrounding the old quarter will work as a transition zone between the Old Quarter and outside districts.

Another additional zone of 45 hectares include Phuc Xa and Chuong Duong wards will work as reserved land, providing missing functions in the old quarter such as schools or parking lots.
