Saigon-Binh Tay Beer Joint Stock Company (Sabibeco) on August 17 debuted its new alcohol-free beer named Sagota, the first of its kind to be produced in Vietnam.

The product is aimed at drivers, sports players and women as currently there is no similar domestically produced product.

Non-alcoholic beers are imported into Vietnam but they are often sold at high prices of around VND80,000-130,000 per can while Sagota is priced at nearly VND12,000 per can.

According to Sabibeco, the production of their new alcohol-free beer, Sagota, follows the normal beer production process except an alcohol reduction process is added.

The non-alcoholic beer is expected to contribute to reducing drunk-driving traffic accidents, the negative effects of alcohol to health and will hopefully spur domestic consumers to use domestic goods.
