Tung Trang QN2477, capable of carrying 48 passengers, departed from Bai Chay port at 12.45pm on August 28 and was overturned by a cyclone at 2.45pm the same day.

When the accident occurred, there were 20 passengers on board, including 12 foreigners, 1 tour guide and 7 crew members.

All of the passengers were safely rescued by nearby cruise ships and brought to local hotels for medical check-ups.

Rescue workers were dispatched to retrieve passengers’ property. Local authorities vowed to compensate passengers for their lost property.
