Vietnamese elderly sets Asian record for mountain climbing

The Asian Book of Records recorded a new record for an 84-year-old Vietnamese man after he climbed Fansipan Mountain for the fourth time.


Mr. Huynh Van Rang

Huynh Van Rang is from Binh Duong Province, and was honoured as the oldest person in Vietnam to have successfully climbed Fansipan. Because there were affiliated individuals to witness the climb, Rang was handed the award.

Rang climbed the 3,143-metres, the height of Fansipan, located in Lao Cai Province.

He attributes his good health to exercise and healthy living.

Rang is the fourth person in Vietnam to be admitted to the Asian Book of Records, after the titles of oldest woman in Asia, given to Nguyen Thi Tru, 121, and the oldest couple in Asian granted to Cao Vien, 106, and his wife  who was 100.
