A conference was held in Hanoi on February 5 to officially release the Vietnam Coalition for Education for All (VCEFA), the fifth non-government organisation in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Training to implement educational goals.

VCEFA has set a target of ensuring all children receive high quality primary education.

The coalition aims to collect Vietnamese civil society organisations and individuals for the purpose of helping the Government enhance education and build a culture of education in society throughout the country.

VCEFA is responsible for developing national action plans for four subject groups including pre-school aged children and primary and secondary schools’ students as well as illiterates and those who have not received a basic education.

The coalition will achieve the goals through numerous practical actions including expanding and improving primary education, particularly with disadvantaged and vulnerable children as well as organising vocational and life skills training programmes for adolescents and adults.

VCEFA has set a target of ensuring all children receive high quality primary education, the rate of literate adults reaching 50%, eliminating gender imbalance in primary and secondary schools and improving the quality of Vietnamese education at all levels.

The coalition has currently 38 members including 36 domestic organisations and two individuals.
