Traffic police in Hanoi said they had invited a father of a six year-old to drive his motorbike to the station to issue him with two fines on August 3.

On July 31, a 20-second clip showing a little boy holding the handlebars, directing and controlling the speed while the adult sat behind shocked people when it was circulated online. People continued to raise concerns as they saw that the boy wasn’t wearing helmet, had sunglasses on and was going fast through traffic.

The uploader of the clip with nickname D.D said he tried to warn the father about his dangerous action but he wasn't sure if he could be heard through the helmet.

He said, "Parents are often so careful with their children when travelling on the road these days so this is a rare case. I don't want 'one rotten apple spoils the barrel' but I hope parents will be more careful and won't let similar dangerous incident occur."

Many people expressed their anger and criticised the father, saying that letting children control motorbike was nothing to be proud about.

The police successfully found the man in the clip, Phan Trong Tue, who is a local from Ha Dong District. He admitted that he was riding with his son on the front. Seeing that the road was sparse of other vehicles, he decided to let his son hold the handlebars for the next 100 metres.

The police issued a fine of VND1m (USD45.45) for unlicensed and underage driving. The father was also fined VND900,000 for letting a minor use motorbike.
