One person has been killed and one still remains missing in heavy rains in the central city of Hue.

According to chairman of Phu Vang District People's Committee, Dang Tien Tuy, a local man died while trying to fix the roof of his house in the strong winds and felt down on Thursday night.

A woman in the same district has been reported missing after her boat capsized in a local river at around 3am on October 14.

 Many trees fell down on Nguyen Hue Street

The rains which started at yesterday midnight and lasted through early this morning have submerged many streets. Many trees have fallen on Nguyen Hue, Dong Da, and Ly Thuong Kiet streets.

Nguyen Hue Street, Ngo Quyen Street and the National Road 49 have been blocked by fallen trees.

The rains were brought by a tropical depression which is forecast to cause large flooding to some provinces in the central region including Nghe An, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Ha Tinh and Thua Thien-Hue.
