According to the chairman, spending will reach USD1 million a year between 2017 and 2018.

Chung met CNN channel’s Sales Manager in South East Asia, Stacey Rabsatt in Hanoi to discuss the marketing plan in August.

At the meeting, Chung said Hanoi identified tourism as one of key industries in its 2016-2020 development plan. It is very important to promote the image of Hanoi as well as Vietnam’s land and people on international communications, including CNN.

Chung said Hanoi can co-operate with CNN to provide news about economics, health care and sports to attract more foreign investors to the capital.

Stacey Rabsat also found that changes in Hanoi and Vietnam in recent years were impressive and she wanted to share these changes with the world. She said CNN had worked with some Vietnamese partners to promote the image of the Vietnamese people, Vietnam and Hanoi to the world.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism had several campaigns to promote Vietnam’s tourism on US television. Some Vietnamese localities appeared on CNN include Ninh Binh and Halong Bay
