Hanoi to open another bus rapid transit route

The authorities of Hanoi has made plan to open one more bus rapid transit route from Kim Ma Station to Hoa Lac Highway.

Hanoi's Vice Chairman Nguyen The Hung announced the decision at the review conference of Hanoi Transport Corporation's activities last year on January 6.

 

First bus rapid transits route runs from Kim Ma to Yen Nghia

"We'll definitely invest and open another route after gaining experience from the operation of the first route," he said.

The first route runs from Kim Ma to Yen Nghia Station and the second route will run from Kim Ma to Hoa Lac Highway.

Statistics from Hanoi Transport and Services Corporation show that as of January 6, the buses served 65,000 passengers. 24,000 people used the service on January 5 and 6, the fourth and fifth day the route went into operation.

"The number of passengers is increasing on daily basis. On the first day we had 8,300 passengers, 10,400 on the next day and 11,200 on the third day," said Nguyen Thuy, director of Hanoi BRT Company.

The buses left and arrived at stations on time, each bus received an average of 32 passengers a trip.

Disabled people have used the new buses more frequently due to their better facilities.
