American tourist gets lost near My Son Sanctuary

An American tourist has been found after more than a day after he lost his way while visiting a forest near the Cham religious site of My Son in the central province of Quang Nam.

Speaking with DTiNews, Phan Ho, head of the Management Board for My Son site, said that this is a rare incident at the site. 

On August 1, 41-year-old Blaise Goelet, got lost while he was visiting a forest near My Son Sanctuary along with his wife and his child.

After being informed of Goelet’s disappearance, the board conducted a search. Goelet did not bring his mobile phone with him, so the search became more difficult.

The local police were asked to support the search and the ambulance was also arranged in the necessary case.

Until the midday of August 2, the American was found exhausted some 100 metres away from the east of My Son Sanctuary. He was given the first aid and then sent to Hoan My Hospital in Danang City for the emergency. He was diagnosed with pleural effusion.

After staying at the hospital for several days, he recovered and returned to the US.

His wife expressed their thanks to the management board of the My Son site and the rescue team.
