>> HCM City’s first river bus to be launched soon The first river bus route in HCM City was taken on a test-run on August 21, expected to shorten a third of the travel time for passengers compared to using a bus.
The 11-kilometre route will officially put into operation from October. It starts at Bach Dang wharf in District 1, follows the Saigon River through Thanh Da Canal then ends at the crossing station on Binh Quoi River in Thu Duc District’s Linh Dong Ward.
Twelve stops, which all have parking lots, have been set up along the route in Districts 1, 2, Binh Thanh and Thu Duc.
The one-way tickets are priced at VND15,000 (68 US cents) for the route.
Director of the HCM City Department’s Transport Bui Xuan Cuong said that the river bus service would hopefully ease traffic jams in the city.
