Former Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, representatives of the department of health and Can Tho City People's Committee attended the ceremony.

The Hungarian government will provide nearly USD57m with the remaining USD70.5m sourced from counterpart funding. The hospital, with 500 beds, will become the biggest oncology hospital in the Mekong Delta.

During the visit to Vietnam on September 25, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán met with Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and promised to build an advanced hospital in Can Tho. Hungary will also cooperate in education and commerce sectors.

Szilveszter Bus, Deputy State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, said co-operation would help strengthen the friendship between Hungary and Vietnam.
