A Facebook video clip showing some people in the central province of Ha Tinh’s Huong Khe District trying to put bags of rubbish on a train has surprised people.

The two-minute clip posted by a Facebook account on November 20 was accompanied by a status that read “Huong Khe rubbish being transported to Saigon”.

In the clip, some local people were shown trying to hang bags of rubbish on a train which was ready to depart from the station.

Even when the train started moving, a man still ran after to put one more bag of rubbish on it.

The clip has attracted tens of thousands of shares and comments. Many people strongly opposed to these people’s action, saying it is unacceptable for them to take advantage of the train to throw the rubbish away. They should have transported the rubbish to dumping sites instead.

According to the reporter’s inspection, since June this year, Huong Khe Town’s dumping sites are overloaded, which has caused the serious pollution in the locality and this could be the reason for local people using the train as a way of transporting the rubbish away.

Le Huu Thai, chairman of Huong Khe Town People’s Committee, confirmed that the clip was filmed at the town’s Huong Pho Station and the people in the clip would be traders of the nearby Son Market.

Local authorities will work with the station management board to identify these people, he added.
