A man in Thanh Hoa Province is facing administrative fines for teaching his nephew how to drive a truck on the public road.

On March 18, a video clip showing a little boy steering the truck under the instruction of his uncle in Bac Son Ward, Sam Son City, was uploaded to the internet. The clip attracted thousands of views and many have raised concerns and expressed anger at the adult.

The clip clearly shows members of the public telling the man to stop letting the child drive.

Head of Sam Son City police force, Captain Cao Ngoc Uy, said the man had been identified as Cao Duy Thieu, born in 1984. He is the boy's uncle and the truck's owner. According to the police, they had already dealt with the case. Thieu is facing a fine from VND2m (USD87) to VND4m.

"We’re seeking permission to confiscate the truck. We'll strictly deal with this case," he said.

On March 19, the Office Chief of the National Traffic Safety Committee, Nguyen Trong Thai, said this was a serious violation. He asked police in Thanh Hoa Province to investigate the case and deal with the violator.

"This is a threat to other drivers. The man ignored the law and should be strictly punished," he said.
