Truck brake failure accident kills five in Lam Dong
At least five people have been killed and two others injured when a truck collided with other vehicles on National Road 20 in the central highlands province of Lam Dong on Monday morning.
The truck did not stop but continued accelerating after injuring two people on the motorbike. When passing Phi Nom Intersection, it continued to hit more vehicles, killing four people.
Initial investigation at the site showed that the truck’s brakes had failed. One small truck, two cars, five motorbikes, and the truck itself were all heavily damaged.
Deputy PM Truong Hoa Binh who is chairman of the Committee for Traffic Safety has sent condolences to the victims of the accident and urged agencies to investigate the incident.
