Authorities in Danang City seized a restaurant of Phan Van Anh Vu in Danang City on June 13

The Department of Planning and Investment was asked to work with the Department of Natural Resources and Environment on how to legally use the confiscated property in the public interest.

Danang Chairman Huynh Duc Tho said they had been working to utilise restaurants and cruise ships projects along Han River invested by Vu to clear the landscape around Dien Hai Citadel which was recognised as a national heritage site in March and is being renovated.

State agencies were asked to convert the function of the recalled projects so that they could be merged with the space around Dien Hai Citadel to boost tourism. Danang People's Committee confirmed on June 14 that the recalled projects will be converted for public use.

Vu, 42, is one of Da Nang’s major real estate tycoons. Vu was Chairman of the Bac Nam 79 Construction JSC, the Nova Bac Nam 79 JSC, and the Sunrise Bay Da Nang project. In 2013, the Government Inspectorate launched an inspection that found his companies responsible for multiple violations of the land law.

The wanted notice for Vu was signed on December 21 and he was arrested in Singapore on December 28 for committing offenses under the Singaporean Immigration Act and deported to Vietnam.
