The border guard department in the central province of Quang Tri announced on September 12 that they have co-operated with authorities in Laos to bust a major drug trafficking ring with over 100,000 methamphetamine pills seized.

Som Vang Lat Sa Vong, 35, from Savanakhet Province was arrested at 4.30pm on September 11 at Non Xa At Village while transporting the 114,000 methamphetamine pills into Vietnam.

According to the department, Som Vang Lat Sa Vong has been running the drug trafficking ring for a long time but Vietnamese and Laos authorities have failed to bust them in their past raids.

The man and the drugs seized have been transferred to Savanakhet police for further investigation.
