A Vietjet Air passenger has been banned from flying for 12 months after claiming to airport employees that there was a bomb in the luggage.

Danang International Airport

The 24-year-old man from Binh Thuan Province made the threat at Danang International Airport on September 3. He was supposed to board a Danang-HCM City flight and was going through the security screening procedure when he suddenly said that there was a bomb in his cabin luggage.

The security guards checked carefully both the man and his luggage and found a computer and some electronic devices. However, there was no bomb.

On September 20, the Middle Airports Authority announced that the Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam had fined the man VND4m (USD172) and banned him from flying until September 21, 2019.

Aviation agencies were asked to keep a profile of the man in order to keep him from buying tickets and boarding the planes.

According to the Resolution 92 about aviation safety, passengers will be banned from flying from 3 to 12 months if they cause disorder, use fake documents or make false bomb threats. A 12-24 month ban or a permanent ban will be applied to passengers who keep repeating the violations.
