Vietjet Air plane with troubled landing has no technical problems

The Vietjet Air plane which lost a nose wheel while landing at Buon Ma Thuot Aiport on November 29 has no technical problems, according to the initial investigation by the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV).

The investigators collected the black box and gathered information on the VJ 356 flight on November 30. They also worked with the Filipino captain and Spanish co-pilot. Initial investigation shows that there was no technical problem. Before landing, the plane seemed to be in good condition and the pilots didn't require help from the control tower. The weather was fine with 10 km of visibility.

Asides from losing a nose wheel, the other parts of the landing gear were also damaged. Six injured passengers have been released 12 hours after being admitted to the hospital.

Flight VJ356 of Vietjet Air from HCM City encountered a landing problem 11:03pm. Its nose wheels remained in place after touching the runway, but later burst while the aircraft was still moving. One of the wheels was thrown out, causing the plane to tip off balance.

The plane managed to come to a safe halt and the cabin crew carried out emergency procedures to help all the 207 passengers get out. The runway was slightly damaged and has been repaired. The wheel was also found near the runway.

Chairman of the National Traffic Safety Committee cum Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh ordered an investigation into the incident.
