Tet presents for deprived children

Dantri/DTiNews has given 258 Tet presents donated to pupils in the mountainous province of Tuyen Quang.

The Compassionate Hearts Parent Group and the Chap Canh Uoc Mo Fund have worked together to launch the annual Winter Warmth campaign to help children in mountainous areas to have a better Tet Holiday.

Presents have been donated to 258 pupils at Luc Hanh Primary School, Yen Son District, including 5kg rice, a coat, a pair of shoes, a towel, two milk packages and sweets that cost a total VND50m (USD2,200). 10 bicycles were given to 10 disadvantaged pupils and six pupils with especially difficult backgrounds were given VND1m each.

Deputy head of Dantri Department of Communication and Social Work Nguyen The Nam said, "The presents are not much but it's from our hearts. I hope the children will have a happy Tet Holiday with the presents,"

Nguyen Thi Hoang, head of Luc Hanh Primary School expressed gratitude to the donors and organisers.

"This is very meaningful and provides necessary items and mental support to the children and their families. Your support is also our motivation to work better," she said.
