North Korea’s leader Kim Jong Un arrived in Vietnam by train on Tuesday morning.

North Korea's leader Kim Jong Un arrived at Dong Dang Train Station in Lang Son on February 26.

The train carrying the North Korean leader arrived at Dong Dang Train Station in the northern province of Lang Son at around 8 am on February 26.

Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee (PCC) and head of the PCC’s Communication and Education Commission, Vo Van Thuong came to welcome the North Korea leader at the station on his first visit to Vietnam.

Minister and Chairman of the Government Office Mai Tien Dung was also present at the train station.

Local students holding flowers and flags welcomed the North Korean leader.

A welcoming ceremony was held at the train station before Kim before Kim continued on to Hanoi by car.

A 170-kilometre National Road 1 from Dong Dang to Hanoi has been banned to serve Kim's travel.

Security was tightened at the station as hundreds of international reporters awaited Kim's arrival.
