The northern and central regions have been forecasted to face a long hot spell in the days to come.

The centre said that today, July 12, the Red River Delta and midland areas of the north have the temperatures of between 35 and 37 degrees centigrade. Meanwhile, the temperature would range from 35 and 38 degrees centigrade.

Localities, particularly in the central region, have been warned of the increased risk of fires during this period.

The centre has also predicted high UV indexes for many cities, including Hanoi, Danang and HCM City. People are advised to go out in the sun should use sun cream and wear sun-proof clothes. They should also avoid long exposure to the sun.

The hot weather is being partially blamed for the many recent forest fires in the central region.
