Doctors in HCM City successfully separated conjoined twins on October 2.

The operation was carried out by a group of 18 doctors at the Children's Hospital 1. The conjoined twins were detected during an ultrasound session during their mother's pregnancy.

After being born at Tu Du Hospital, they were admitted to the Children's Hospital 1 and were taken care of until their weight met the conditions for operation. In order to avoid psychological effects and with current technology, the doctors decided to separate the twins at 1.5 months old.

The twins were brought to the operation room at 8 am. When doing the anaesthesia, the doctors had to be very careful because one twin was weaker than the other. They had to keep a close eye on the twin's data before the operation started at 10:15 am.

Since the twin were joined at the belly, the doctors assessed the condition of their livers and carefully separated the joined area. The operation was done very quickly so there was no acute blood loss. Any complications were dealt with.

The operation was finished after over one hour and the twins are being looked after at the hospital.
