Hundreds of Vietnamese citizens return from Japan and the US

More than 220 Vietnamese citizens from Japan were brought home on a repatriation flight which landed at the Cam Ranh international airport on Wednesday, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The flight was jointly conducted by the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan, Vietjet Air, and Japanese competent agencies, the ministry said.

Another repatriation flight which landed at the Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi on Thursday morning also brought home nearly 350 Vietnamese people from the US.

Passengers included children under 18, the elderly, pregnant woman, people with illness, stranded tourists, labourers with expired contracts and without residence, interns, students without residence due to the closure of dormitories and other disadvantaged cases.

Right after landing at the airport, all the passengers and the flight crew members were given health check-ups and then sent to quarantine areas in accordance with current regulations.

This is the 80th and 81st repatriation flights arranged by the authorities since April 10, bringing home nearly 20,000 Vietnamese citizens stranded abroad due to the Covid-19 pandemic, official statistics show.
