Hai Duong City locked down after three Covid-19 cases reported

Social distancing regulations have been imposed on the northern city of Hai Duong since Thursday midnight after three Covid-19 patients were confirmed in the area.

Under a decision signed by People’s Committee Chairman Nguyen Duong Thai, the quarantine will last for 15 days.

During the quarantine, residents are asked to stay at home, only go out for essential needs like buying food, medicine, or working in factories, manufacturing facilities, service providers that are not closed and emergencies.

Public gatherings have been limited to two people and a minimum distance of two metres between each other outdoors must be maintained.

Hai Duong University’s dormitory area is used for isolating people who had closed contact with the patients.

The three cases in the province, patients 906 to 908 aged between 17 and 72, are all working at a restaurant in Hai Duong City and came into close contact with Patient 867 who lives in the local district of Binh Giang.

On July 31, Patient 867 felt tired and started coughing. On August 8-9, he went for a check-up at the 108 Military Central Hospital and Thanh Nhan Hospital in Hanoi before coming to his daughter’s home in Hanoi’s Thanh Tri District. He then tested positive for Covid-19 on August 10-11.

The patients in Hai Duong were among six announced by the Ministry of Health on Friday morning along with three others in the central province of Quang Nam.

Meanwhile, patients 909 to 911 in Quang Nam are all relatives of Covid-19 patients announced earlier.

So far, the country has recorded a total of 911 Covid-19 cases, including up to 444 related to the Danang outbreak.

The country has confirmed 21 deaths connected to the pandemic.

The 21st fatality announced on Friday morning was a 61-year-old woman in Danang City’s Hoa Vang District who also had diabetes and high blood pressure.
