The last Covid-19 patient in the central city of Danang was discharged from hospital on September 23.


 

Last Covid-19 patient in Danang is discharged on September 23.


Patient 936 discharged from the field hospital in Hoa Vang after 19 tests. He is a 56-year-old man from Danang who was tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 on August 15.

"I did feel worried because of my underlying illness and when the tests kept coming back positive. I'm just so glad to be able to go home now. I want to thank everyone working at the hospital and other patients. I'll never forget the time I spent there. I hope Covid-19 will end soon," he said.

According to Dr. Dang Cong Quyt from the Hoa Vang District Medical Centre, the patient had just received doctor's order for heart surgery when he was tested positive. He also had high blood pressure and diabetes. He went through a hard time after all other patients were discharged.

"Sometimes, he couldn't sleep because the test results came back negative then positive again. We had to use psychotherapy. He was able to sleep and eat well again when the tests were negative," Quyt said.

Ngo Thi Kim Yen, director of Danang Department of Health said when the second wave first broke out, and Danang Hospital was isolated, the pressure was high. The field hospitals in Hoa Vang and Danang Lung Hospital played an important role in treating the patients.

"We had to carry out preventive measures well, andbe prepared with required equipment and human resources in order to limit the number of deaths and contain the outbreak," Yen said.

Danang hasn't had any new community cases for 26 consecutive days.
