The Made-in-Vietnam Covid-19 vaccine is expected to cost VND120,000 per shot and have an equivalent efficacy of better than 90 percent compared to those being developed by some other countries.

60 volunteers will receive Nanocovax vaccine shots in the first phase of human trials in Vietnam.

On December 10, Nanogen Pharmaceutical Biotechnology JSC (Nanogen) which developed the Covid-19 vaccine Nanocovax and the Vietnam Military Medical University started to recruit volunteers for the first phase human trials.

Speaking with Dantri/DTiNews, Nanogen's director for research and development, Do Minh Si, said that Nanocovax was produced following protein synthesis technology and repeated tests of toxicity and other tests on mice and monkeys have proved its safety and efficacy.

According to Nanogen, there will be three phases of human trials and the first phase will require 60 volunteers who will receive vaccine shots from December 17.
