Man faces one-year flight ban due to mobile phone theft

A man in the northern province of Hung Yen has been banned from flying for one year after stealing a mobile phone at Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi.

The man, 43, who took a VietJet Air flight on Hanoi-HCM City on November 9 stole the mobile phone of another passenger at the carry-on luggage security checkpoint.

According to the airport security force, he admitted the theft.

Under the decision of Noi Bai International Airport’s authorities, he received a one-year flight ban, starting from December 15. He will also be subjected to physical examination at airports for an additional six months.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam have asked local and foreign airlines to stop providing services to him during the required time. The airports were asked to check his personal papers to prevent him from flying.

The Vietnam Civil Aviation Authority recently issued a one-year flight ban for a 32-year-old male passenger in the central province of Nghe An for smoking on a flight.
