Contact tracing launched after two Vietnamese tested positive for coronavirus in Australia

Authorities in Hai Phong City are carrying out contact tracing task after two local people tested positive for coronavirus right after arriving in Australia.


The house on 184 Nguyen Cong Tru locked down


Hai Phong Department of Health said on March 10 evening that they had received the news about the two patients who are mother and son.

According to Hanoi CDC, a 43-year-old mother and her 19-year-old son tested negative in Hanoi on February 26 before taking a flight from Noi Bai Airport to Australia. Their flight transited in Singapore. They arrived in Australia on March 1.

On March 2 her son tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 while the mother was negative in Australia. The mother tested positive on the second test on March 6.

According to Hai Phong authorities, the mother brought her son to visit her brother at 184 Nguyen Cong Tru Street in Hai Phong on February 25 before their tests in Hanoi. They also had been in contact with four other people at 184 Nguyen Cong Tru.

Hai Phong Department of Health said that all of them are still in good health and no symptoms have been shown. However, the house will be temporarily locked down.

The department is carrying out contact tracing tasks and asked everyone who had been in contact with the mother and son from February 20 to 28 to call their local medical station immediately or call the hotline.
